Kyneton is a rural town, 40 minutes drive north of Melbourne on the Calder highway. The Kyneton & District Poultry Club Inc has been going for many years and currently has over 100 members who keep a wide range of poultry. Some of us breed and show poultry whilst others keep poultry for eggs and pleasure. The Kyneton & District Poultry Club Inc. is a not for profit community based group and all proceeds go to the continued refurbishment of our pavilion and promotion of poultry in general.
We welcome new members of all ages and experience.
Come and see what we are about!
Guests are made most welcome at our general meetings held on the first Thursday of every month. We usually have a guest speaker share their experience with some aspect of keeping poultry followed by questions and then general discussion with a cup of tea. Meetings start at 7:30pm at the Horace Don Pavilion at the Kyneton Show Grounds, corner of Mollison & Beauchamp Streets (to the right once inside the main gates then down opposite the goal posts).
The club holds three auctions each year in Autumn, Winter and Spring at the Horace Don Pavilion in the Kyneton Showgrounds. The dates for the 2018 auctions are Sunday April 8th, Sunday 1st July & Sunday 14th October. Bookings for pens to sell birds need to be made in advance, check the auction page for details.
The 2019 annual show will be held on Sunday 9th June 2018,with over $1500 of cash prizes to be won. The 2018 show was the largest to date with all pens in the shed full. More details and a show schedule to be released in early 2019.
